National Vision
National Transformation Vision
Vision 2020, which has driven tremendous socioeconomic progress for close to two decades, is coming to a close having delivered millions out of poverty and led to sustained economic growth of more than 7% between 2000 and 2018. This socioeconomic transformation has set the trajectory and momentum for current ambitions for achieving upper middle income status by 2035 and high middle income status by 2050, according to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
Implementing of the National Vision
Achieving the Vision 2050 targets requires growth in the average of 10% as a result of the creation of a competitive and productive value system, sustained investment in ICT, modern infrastructure, and sustaining the momentum in building a conducive environment for private business to thrive (ease of doing business).
Medium Term Strategies
Vision 2050 is elaborated into a series of medium term strategies including the NST-1 (National Strategy for Transformation) that is currently under implementation following the completion of the final generation of the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy series (PRSP 1&2, EDPRS: 1-2) in June 2018.
